The Best Seasonal Fruits For Your Summertime Smoothie Bowls

Summer is here, and with it comes a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, perfect for adding to smoothie bowls! Smoothie bowls are a quick and easy way to fit in some of your daily servings of fruits and vegetables, whether you make one to start off your morning with a colorful breakfast, or add a bit of brightness to your afternoon. This season’s fruits and vegetables offer a stunning range of colors, which makes it easy to snap the perfect photo of your summer snack. You won’t even need a filter!

Berries are some of our favorite fruits to add to our smoothie bowls and luckily, ‘tis the season for berries! Our favorite summer fruits for smoothie bowls include blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries, but melons, peaches, and even cherries can be great additions this time of year. Additionally, there are a number of vegetables in season during the summer, including carrots, arugula, zucchini, and rhubarb.

While some produce options might seem like an odd choice at first, you never know what might taste good until you give it a try! Mixing fruits and flavors can result in delicious combinations. Plus, with enough fruit, you might not even notice the vegetables, but you’ll still get all the added benefits and vitamins!

The other great thing about summer fruits and vegetables, besides eating them of course, is shopping for them! Your regular grocery store probably has a produce selection where you’ll be able to find everything you’d need (often at lower prices if you’re picking the fruits that are in season), but venturing out to a farmer’s market can be more fun in the sun, and it’s likely there’s one near you.

Once you’ve collected all the fruits and vegetables you want to use in your smoothie bowls, remember that you can always freeze fruits if you buy too much. Freezing fruits can also be a way to stock up on all your summer favorites while you still can!

If you’re looking for a quick and easy breakfast, you can cut up the fruit and package it in portions. Then, when you’re ready to make a smoothie bowl, just take it out of the freezer, toss it all in a blender, and voila!

Our recipes provide a good starting point using some of our personal favorites, but we highly encourage you to create your own smoothie bowls and mixes! You can pick and choose the fruits and vegetables you like best (and leave out the ones you don’t like). We’d love to hear your recipes, so be sure to share with us on our Facebook or Instagram channels!
